The Church has a preferential option for youth.

Unity amid diversity is at the heart of who we are as Christians and is the reason why the Church Jesus founded is catholic in fact as well as in name. Our diversity is ethnic—we are the only major Church worldwide with a non-white majority! Fully 2/3 of all Catholics live in Asia, Africa and Latin America, but our diversity is not just ethnic. We also include people of all temperaments and many spiritualities. We are home to traditionalists nostalgic for a time before they were even born, as well as to progressives who long for changes they will probably never live to see, people of all ages with every kind of brokenness and giftedness imaginable and dreams of every sort. Every one of you has something distinctive to contribute to this astonishingly beautiful mosaic founded by Jesus to nurture our faith and bring his salvation to the entire world.

Besides the black smudge on our foreheads on Ash Wednesday, is there any way we Catholics “stand out” as distinctive? Debate it you may. But, the scholars tell us that, without such identifiable characteristics, any religion risks becoming listless, bland, and unattractive.

Have to love the Tridentine Mass

harmanville:

Domine, non sum dignus, ut intres sub tectum meum: sed tantum dic verbo, et sanabitur anima mea.

Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But say the word and my soul will be healed.

One Hundred Fifty Reasons I’m Catholic

dennisjoealoy:

And You Should Be Too!

by Dave Armstrong

1. Best One-Sentence Summary: I am convinced that the Catholic Church conforms much more closely to all of the biblical data, offers the only coherent view of the history of Christianity (i.e., Christian, apostolic Tradition), and possesses the most profound and sublime Christian morality, spirituality, social ethic, and philosophy.

2. Alternate: I am a Catholic because I sincerely believe, by virtue of much cumulative evidence, that Catholicism is true, and that the Catholic Church is the visible Church divinely-established by our Lord Jesus, against which the gates of hell cannot and will not prevail (Mt 16:18), thereby possessing an authority to which I feel bound in Christian duty to submit.
