Lights (Matthew 5: 13 - 16)

wreckedsolitaryhere:

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

This reminded me of 1 John 4:18, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear…” Even though the picture uses “hate” instead of “fear”, it still reminded me of that verse. :)

If God created shadows it was to better emphasize the light.

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Psalms 27: 1, 4, 13 - 14

wreckedsolitaryhere:

The LORD is my light and my salvation—
   whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?

One thing I ask from the LORD,
   this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple.

I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the LORD
in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD;
   be strong and take heart
   and wait for the LORD.

But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.
For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

I want to see You High and lifted up! Shining in the Light of Your Glory. Lord, pour out Your Power and Love! As we sing Holy! Holy! Holy!
