John 20:27-29

Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.

Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

I know images like this make us feel good, but I’m old enough to have discovered that this is a terribly impractical philosophy of life. I’m wrong all the time, I’m inadequate all the time, I’m just an all-around mess.

Which is a great reason to believe in God above anybody else.

Lamentations 3:24-26
