“Dolan’s humor was second only to his pastoral charm as he greeted each inmate with a touch on the shoulder or a blessing before the Mass. Afterward, he waited at the back of the chapel to offer each woman a hug. In one case, he told an inmate that she delivered the first reading at Mass so well that he wanted her to come to St. Patrick’s Cathedral after she got out to read from the scriptures there as well”.

My dwelling place shall be with them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Ezekiel 37:27
ABOVE ALL, PRAYING MEANS TO BE ACCEPTING TOWARD GOD WHO IS ALWAYS new, always different. For God is a deeply moved God whose heart is greater than mine. The open acceptance of prayer in the face of an ever-new God makes me free. In prayer, I am constantly on the way, on pilgrimage. On my way, I meet more and more people who show me something about him whom I seek. I’ll never know if I’ve reached him. But I do know that he will always be new and there is no reason for fear.
Lord, I believe that in every prayer you are calling me to a new life. Take away my fears so I can respond to your call in service to others.
Renewed For Life was compiled by the works of Henri Nouwen and edited by Mark Neilsen.
Today Radio Teopoli, CIAO AM530 (Toronto, Canada) at 12pm (Eastern Time) welcomes listeners to a new feature: building a culture of life: the Church, Family and School hosted by Lou Iacobelli.

Tune in as Lou interviews Teresa Pierre, director of the organization “Parents As First Educators.” We feel it is important to provide you with this information about the proposed legislation that is presently before the house in Queens Park because it will dramatically change education if it is passed.
I hope you and/or your friends can join the conversation and together we can help to build a culture of life.
Thank you,
Lou

Ezekiel 37:21-28 - Jeremiah 31:10-13 - John 11:45-56
There shall be one shepherd for them all.Ezekiel 37:24
ONE OF THE BEAUTIFUL things about being Catholic is the knowledge that there is One Shepherd. No matter where you go on the globe, from the Americas to Europe to Asia, all Catholics hold fast to the same creed. Despite vast differences in language, dress, customs and culture, we find unity in Christ and his Church.
Generations since Ezekiel have longed for just such harmony among peoples. Happily, God the Father kept the promise made in Ezekiel 37:24 when Christ established his Church. What an amazing thought: with the founding of the Church, the world not only has diversity but unity in diversity.
Let us give thanks for the Catholic Church, a visible sign to the world of the unity of Christ’s body on earth.
Jesus, let me be an instrument of peace.

From that day on [the Pharisees] planned to put him to death. Jesus therefore no longer walked about openly among the Jews, but went from there to a town called Ephraim in the region near the wilderness; and he remained there with the disciples.John 11:53-54
Jesus knew the Pharisees wanted him gone, and he had a sense it would be soon. But it seems he was not ready yet. He sought privacy and quiet near the wilderness with only his close friends. Many people today find peace and calm when they are in nature. Being away from the voices and distractions of society can help us to remember what is most important to us. Lent is a whole season for us to do that, too, even if we can’t go out into the wilderness. If you can’t find an outdoor place to pray or meditate, maybe you can find an indoor sport. With your parents, light a candle or place a stone or plant nearby to remind you of nature. Simply spend a few minutes thanking God for the gifts you have received and asking for the grace to use them well.
Jesus, we are grateful for what we have, and we promise to use our gifts, as you did, for good.

In the same way the chief priests, along with the scribes, were also mocking him among themselves and saying, “He saved others; he cannot save himself.”Mark 15:31
In a single stroke and with great contempt, the chief priests and scribes here dismiss Jesus and justify themselves. The sad fact is that they, by their religious practices and social arrangements, are the ones trying to “save themselves.” These are the people Jesus was unable to reach, not because they were nonbelievers, but because they were so convinced that what they believed was absolutely right. Unless we can see our own flaws, we will no longer be able to feel the need for God in our lives.
Jesus, I don’t want to be a smug and complacent Christian, but I know the temptation is always there. Help me to put my trust in you alone, my only sure hope of salvation.
