“The highest degree of meekness consists in seeing, serving, honoring, and treating amiably, on occasion, those who are not to our taste, and who show themselves unfriendly, ungrateful, and troublesome to us.” —St. Francis de Sales †

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” —Ephesians 2:4-7 †

“Health is now also defined as the order and purpose I want to impose upon my body. Services listed as reproductive health do not restore the body to health but actually impede natural processes in the body or block them.” —Bishop Michael Duca (Shreveport)

Scripture Study: Matthew 20: 22-28 → readingtheword.tumblr.com

22But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. 23And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the…

“In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus explained the second commandment: “You have heard that it was said to the men of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’ But I say to you, Do not swear at all…Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from the evil one.” Jesus teaches that every oath involves a reference to God and that God’s presence and his truth must be honored in all speech. Discretion in calling upon God is allied with a respectful awareness of his presence, which all our assertions either witness to or mock.” —Life in Christ: Catechism #2153 †

“Just as at holiday time we return home to the source of what made us who we are, so too on Sunday we return to our Creator in a way not like any other in our week. We drink from the well. We eat from “the table of the Lord.” Therefore, we must ask ourselves, “How seriously do we take this obligation?” —Bishop Glen Provost (Lake Charles)

On this day of your life we believe God wants you to know ... that to love is to be vulnerable.

joecatholic:

Love is the opening of the heart, the welcoming of your beloved. Loving is not secure, authentic loving is risky. Security lies behind the walls of a closed heart. You either invite the union by opening in love, or you secure the isolation by closing down.

FATHER JEAN PIERRE DE CAUSSADE, S.J.

There is not a moment in which God is not present with us under the cover of some pain to be endured, some obligation or some duty to be performed, or some consolation to be enjoyed.

All that takes place within us, around us, or through us involves and…

Lord's Prayer

Faith isn’t knowing Saint Thomas Aquinas’  five proofs for the existence of God.

Faith isn’t the burning sensation of happiness for God either.

Faith is deciding that you are inferior, and the Creator is our Father.

The first two words of the Lord’s Prayer, “Our Father,” is a beautiful assertion that God the Father is in charge of us, and it is His will that matters, not our’s.
